Driver - HAVI Logistics in Switzerland
Markus Kolenko is having to learn two new languages at the same time. Although the 36-year-old driver has been working for HAVI Logistics in Switzerland in the town of Oensingen for almost a year, his family lives in Lausanne, in the French region of the country. His colleagues speak Swiss-German and his neighbours speak French. But Markus Kolenko, who previously spent six years driving for HAVI Logistics in Germany, is a fast learner. “I learn together with my two-year-old daughter, whom we are raising to be bilingual”, he explains.
A positive aspect of his move from one country to another has been that other than dealing with the language barrier, virtually everything has remained the same. Thanks to the international HAVI Logistics Standards, he has found it easy to take up work with HAVI Logistics in Switzerland. “There are a few minor differences on delivery notes. Plus, due to the general ban on night-time truck driving, the working hours are more pleasant”, Kolenko says. Other than that, goods control based on HACCP, vehicles with temperature-controlled storage, the same McDonald’s quality standards can all be found in Switzerland.
